We could try having a video for each character; I could easily name at least one
great video for each one, if you include matches, demonstrational, and combo
videos.
Our first group discussion will be: Who do you use, and why?
In terms of having the satisfaction of beating people, I like using G&W;
he's sorely underestimated by many people. He's actually very good in midair;
it's just that he's not exactly the easiest to combo with. When I'm playing
seriously, I use either Marth or Fox, but I'm trying to get my Jigglypuff back
up to par. Marth has aerials that are easy to combo with, and Fox has some of
the deadliest moves in the game, such as his up+smash, up aerial, and down+b
(shine). Jigglypuff has Rest, and that's surprisingly easy to combo other people
into.
To get our members more active in our group, we're going to start discussions in
which anybody can post their opinion. You can debate with other members, as long
as you don't flame and insult; that will result in a ban .
So anyway, read and participate in the current discussion by looking at the
announcements.
Yes, you're reading properly: Mewtwo CAN own in Super Smash Bros: Melee. In
fact, there's a combo video of a pro named Taj, who is arguably the best Mewtwo
player in the nation. His video can be found in the video section of the Super-Smash-Bros-Melee
group.
Let this thread rot, please . Moderaters, please close this thread. For those of you that replied, I thank
you for your comments. You've helped me a lot .
Although the PSP has the advantage in graphics, I think that the DS wins in
games. The touch screen has allowed for unique games such as Brain Age, and Big
Brain Academy. Metroid Prime Hunters is also a unique game, in the sense that
it's probably the best first-person shooter available for a hand-held system
because of it's realistic aiming system. One also cannot forget WarioWare:
Touched!, being the ultimate test for relfexes and just insane minigames.
The DS also has the advantage in classic games that are appropriate for the
average child, and yet teenagers and some adults can be seen playing those same
game. Titles such as Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS, and Metroid Prine Hunters
(yet again) come into mind. Advance Wars: Dual Strike is probably the best
strategy game for the DS, and is acclaimed by many as a great game series.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is also an amzing title, and is played by all ages.
Games like Castlevania are huge in space, so having an extra screen to serve as
a map is a life-saver. Instead of opening a menu and checking your position, you
can simply look up, then get back to your game. This is true for games like
Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga: Partners in Time. The extra screen also comes in
handy for a game like Metroid Prime Pinball, where instead of having a
transition to view the top half of the board, you can simply look on the top
screen.
1. C) Samus. Samus' short hop is one of the highest ones in the game (if not THE
highest), making it impractical to use it when approaching.
2. Ness, Mewtwo, Yoshi, and Peach. Note tha DJC means Double Jump Cancel; when
you use and aerial during their double jump, they will stop gaining altitude,
unlike other characters.
3. Peach. Float canceling is using Peach's float, then using an aerial and then
landing during it. The result will be that Peach will perform her standard
landing animation, instead of the animation from the attack that she
did.
4. Ice Climbers. Sheik's DThrow can only bring her so far; Ice Climbers can
chain-throw from 0% to death against certain characters, including Bowser and
Sheik. Chain-throwing is the action of throwing an opponent, grabbing them
before they can escape, then repeating.
5. B) Zelda. Surprisingly, Bowser's wavedash is indeed farther than Zelda's;
she's tied with Peach for the worst wavedash in the game. A wavedash is jumping
then airdodging diagonally into the ground, resulting in a sliding motion with
white smoke surrounding your character. A good wavedasher can wavedash
consistantly without making his/her character pop up due to the jump.
7. C) Ganondorf's aerial down+B. It's so powerful that if you catch your
opponent under the stage with this at 30%, they'll most likely die.
8. A) Dr. Mario.
9. B) Ganondorf's aerial down+B. Fox's DAir is a meteor smash, albeit a very
weak one. Ganondorf's aerial down+B by definition is a SPIKE, not a meteor
smash; there is a difference: spikes cannot be meteor cancelled.
12. Shine (Fox and Falco's down+B aka reflector) and Rest (Jigglypuff's down+B);
both take 1/60th of a second, or one frame to attack.
13. B) Dr. Mario. Spamming BAir on an opponent attempting to recover will almost
always result in an easy kill.
14. Ganondorf.
15. Pikachu. If sweetspotted and uncharaged, then the mouse beats the fox. ONLY
if it's uncharged though.
16. A) Ganondorf. Being "caped" is when you are flipped by Mario or
Dr. Mario's cape attack when you are trying to recover. Ganondorf's recovery is
easily predicted, and thus easily caped by either character.
17. C) Dr. Mario's FAir. Doc's FAir will pop them into the air, instead of
slamming them downward.
18. E) All of the above. Captain Falcon and Fox's sweetspot is right when the
attack comes out (and for Fox you must hit with the foot that Fox is looking at)
and Zelda's sweetspot for both attacks is the heel of her foot.
19. A) Samus. If you don't use FAir, then it's possible.
20. E) Ganondorf's side+B. As quoted from Kirby Still on Top's Spike Moves FAQ,
"For this spike to work, you must execute this move when you are directly
above
your opponent, and attempt to only hit them once, much like Jigglypuff and Fox's
drill kicks. This is one of the games weakest spikes."

this game! But, being the stupid me, I traded it in. I'M SOO FREAKN SUTPID! But I
realy love this quiz. If its alright with you, may I copy and paste this so I
can give this to my friends? And also I can realy thing about this and try to
remeber so I can post my answers here?
Wow, you guys are really fast... I was in the middle of creating the answer key
when you posted. Anyway, go ahead, as long as you don't take credit for it.
Super Smash Bros is a great game series because of the fact that you can play it
casually with your friends without knowing the advanced techniques that people
that play the game at a higher level use. It's also surprisingly deep, with many
techniques that are not in the instruction booklet, such as l-canceling and
wavedashing. So, this is a quiz to see how well you really know the game of
SSBM. Take it if you want to or not; this is a quiz designed to be difficult and
to show how much of SSBM is unknown to the average player.

I think it shoud be allowed. Freedom of religion is a law in my country, after
all. Anyway, religion is something very personal. If you're very devout, then I
think there shouldn't be anything that prevents you from following your

You can also request a different video that's not up besides those three, but if
you do, give the link and the name of the video as well. It would be easier to

Also, the only restrictions are that it MUST be SSBM related and that it cannot
have been shown previously/currently. That includes Shined Blind (Fox combo

Well, the time has come again; we need to decide what video is next in line for the Video of the Month. Right now, we have three choices:
1. Shadow Claw, featuring Taj's amazingly sick Mewtwo
2. Giga Bowser vs Master & Crazy Hand, an Action Replay video
3. Advanced How To Play(SSBM) , the first of three tutorial videos made by Wak, a Y. Link user.
You can also request a different video that's not up besides those three, but if you do, give the link and the name of the video as well. It would be easier to find that way, wouldn't it?
